celtic travellerIn Celtic Mythology, fabulous voyages often were dominated by a notion of time-travel. The hero(ine) voyager underwent a sense of time warp, where, after traversing a myriad of landscapes, he or she would return to the point of origin. While on these journeys, the hero often had no conept of time passed. Many heroes were said to travel around and wander eternally without rest.

Many of the Celtic voyages took place in the Otherworlds, which only the hero had a privilege to transcend to and from. In many stories the hero would return to his 'real world' after having explored the Otherworld. Some heroes, once in the Otherworld were not permitted to return to their natural homeland.

Whether timeless pleasures, or constant peril, the Celtic hero never grew tired of embarking on long, uncertain voyages, in the pursuit of adventure and exploration of the unknown. Celtic myth often portrays these fabulous voyages in the form of a fantastic dream that a hero(ine) is experiencing, whereafter he or she awakes.
